Give Peas A Chance!

So Friday we gave Ryan some peas for his first dinner. I think he did pretty well! He wore most of it, even getting it in his hair, which is now reddish brown. The first spoonful, he wasnt so sure about but by the end, he was so excited he took the spoon from Tim and wanted to feed himself. This was our first attempt at our own organic food. Mixed it in the food processor, no preservatives, just peas! Enjoy
Ryan would like to give a shout out to MaMa and PaPa B. Today is her birthday and their anniversary!!!! Happy Birthday and Congratulations!!!
We wish Aunt Julie and Uncle Trevor well. As like Ryan, Olivia wants to make her way into this world earlier than expected! We keep you in our prayers. I know too well how it can be, on bed rest, in the hospital. Hang in there!

Ryan survived his first Fantasy Football Draft Sunday. He did great when all the guys came over for the draft. We also gave him the winnie the pooh bear he had in the hospital. How he has grown!

Cereal for the first time

Now that Ryan is 7 months and 3 weeks, his pediatrician said that it was ok to introduce rice cereal. He wasnt really sure of it. He took a few small tastes, but I think he was too hungry to try the cereal. He chugged his 8 oz bottle in 10 minutes. So, we will try again tomorrow.

He tolerated about 30 minutes of tummy time today too, with the help of his boppy. His arms are getting stronger and is able to lift his head up more. I think if his arms were stronger, he would be trying to crawl because his legs are kicking machines!

Our Weekend in Iowa

This weekend we ventured on our first family vacation to Pella, Iowa. My cousin Matt married a wonderful girl, Morgan. The wedding was beautiful. The reception, I think, was the hottest ticket in town. We had a great time. Spending all weekend with family. There were about 30 of us who made the 5 hour trek to the small dutch community. We dont get to have the entire family together too often, but when we do, we make it memorable and a great time is had by all.

Ryan was exceptional. He slept about 2 hours on the ride up and about 3 hours on the way home. I sat in the back seat both ways and kept him entertained while Tim drove. He was such a trooper. I think everything caught up to him when we arrived home on Sunday. He was overly tired and a bit grouchy last night before he passed out for the night.

At the hotel, there was an indoor pool, so how could we resist, Ryan took his first dip in the pool. He did not like it so much, as you can see from the photos. I really think it may have been too loud for him. Since the pool was indoors, the echos even gave me a headache, or it may have been the kids playing 'Marco Polo'....anyway, we will try the swimming thing again soon. He has the perfect outfit. One of the Providers at work gave him a wet suit with a shark on it. I wasnt sure it would fit him, since the outfit is for a 12month and he is only 7 1/2month! But he looked great. Alyssa(my cousin) had a blow up shark and let Tim and Ryan play with it, so cute.

I almost forgot....when we woke up on Friday morning, we found Ryan in his crib, on his side! He looked like he was stuck. He rolled over and then realized that he could not roll back, so he just stayed there, on his side. He is really becoming active, kicking his feet and legs, almost like he is riding a bike.

We plan on starting him on cereal this week. His pediatrician said that we could introduce cereal to his diet at the end of July. We decided to wait until we returned from Iowa to make that change. If things go well, we plan on introducing veggies and fruit sometime this month. Our goal is to make his own food. More on that later....

Enjoy the photos.
