Please don't disturb me, I am napping

He had a big weekend. We went shopping at Soulard Market, met up with Mama and Papa B and aunt Tara and went to the Taste of St. Louis. Wasn't too impressed this year with the event. The first year (4 years ago) was the best setup and most enjoyable. We ran into Mayor Slay and he commented on how cool Ryan looked in his sunglasses. (So Ryan is now 9 months old and has met the mayor twice! I have lived in the city for 7 1/2 years now and have met the mayor twice!)
Today, we went to church. Haven't been in a few weeks. I took him up for Sacred Space. This is where all the children of the congregation come up to the alter for a brief lesson with our Pastor. This was his first time. At the end of her lesson, she passes around a candle and all the children put their hands on it and say a short prayer. When it got to us, I held Ryan out to reach the candle and he tried to grab it, like he was saying a prayer. You could hear a sigh from around the congregation. It was very touching. After 45 minutes or so he got a little fussy and fell asleep on my shoulder.
So he is now eating prunes and loves them. He devoured 2.5 oz for dinner last night and tonight.
Here are a couple of photos I took this afternoon while he was sleeping. This kid has some big feet! Enjoy

9 Months Old

Ryan was 9 months old on the 19th. (yes, I know I am a little late, but we were out of town this past weekend) He went to the pediatrician yesterday for his 9 month shots. He did really well. Now weighing in at 19 lbs 12 oz and 28 inches long. I knew he had been growing. All of his 9 month footed pajamas are getting really snug, lengthwise. We got him an activity saucer this weekend. He can sit in it, spin around and play with the toys on it. Its almost like a walker, but it doesnt walk, just rotates around. We are working on his vision and using toys with noise and blinking lights. He really responds well to those. He had physical therapy today. Ellen was extremely happy that he had rolled over. He was spontaneously laughing and smiling at her today. She sees real progress. He is communicating with us more each day. Different grunts and noises. His first unoffical word is 'uh-oh'. He says it quite often. Also think he is cutting another tooth. You can really see the first tooth well (I'll try to get a picture of that soon). We are experimenting with avocado this week. So far so good. Here are a few pics from today, eating and playing.

Ryan rolled over!!!!

Yes, We are so excited. Ryan rolled over for the first time! We laid him on a blanket on his side and he flipped to his stomach and then right to his back. He did it 4 or 5 times. I just about freaked out. My little guy will be 9 months old on Friday and finally flipped. Attached are a few pics from this week. Enjoy

Ryan is Teething

Tonight while I was feeding him some more squash, I felt his first tooth. Now yesterday makes more sense...all the classic symptoms of getting a first tooth...fever, irritable, drooling, facial rash.

He is getting bigger everyday. His first tooth! I am so excited.

I can see it just push through his gums.

His eye sight is getting better too. He really tunes in to the tv screen and the laptop. Bright lights and colors really stimulate him.

Did I mention he is 19 lbs 4oz now!

More later..
